Master Biscuit Mix

This recipe for our Master Biscuit Mix will help you prepare biscuits, muffins, pancakes, waffles, and other quick breads faster and without added preservatives or unwanted ingredients.

Stir together in large bowl:
10 cups flour (White or fresh ground whole wheat - 5 cups of each is good or mix to your preference.)
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons salt
1/3 cup baking powder (look for our recipe for homemade)
1 Tablespoon soda
2 teaspoons cream of tarter.

Add to dry ingredients:
1 cup shortening or butter (room temperature)
Mix well with mixer to a fine consistency. Use this mixture to make pancakes, muffins, biscuits, pizza crust, quiche, shortcake, dumplings, coffee cake, scones, etc.
Use the same as commercial biscuit mixes or follow recipes included in our recipe section for Quick Breads.

Note:  If using butter, keep mix in refrigerator or freezer to keep from becoming rancid.
