Favorite Brownie Recipe

This recipe for brownies will be a favorite because it is so easy and has just the right flavor for most chocolate lovers.  You can always add more cocoa if you like.

Mix together in large mixing bowl:
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup melted butter or cooking oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup chocolate chips - (optional)
Mix together well. You can use a mixer or mix by hand. Pour into a 9"X 13" baking pan that has been sprayed with non-stick spray or greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm or cover evenly with chocolate chips and spread around when melted.  You can also frost with the following chocolate frosting recipe when cool.

Chocolate Frosting: Combine the following ingredients in mixing bowl and mix until smooth. If it is too thick add a few more drops of water. If too thin add more powdered sugar a little at a time until thick enough to spread but not runny.

  • 3 Tablespoons soft or melted butter
  • 3 Tablespoons hot water
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 to 4 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
