Gingersnap Chews



If you like the taste of old fashioned ginger snaps, you will like these easy gingersnap bar cookies!




Mix together in mixing bowl until thick and light in color:
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup shortening or ½ cup butter (1 stick)
1 egg
Add and mix:
3 Tablespoons light molasses (scant ¼ cup)
Mix together and add:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ginger
¼ teaspoon cloves
Mix all together just until mixed well. Press evenly with wet hands into greased 9”x13” pan. Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar.  Bake in oven at 350 degrees until it rises and then begins to  fall. Cool slightly and cut into bars.  Enjoy!!
