Old Fashioned Chip Cookies

Old Fashioned Chip Cookies

(Can be made in various combinations to suit your taste)

Blend until smooth and thick:

1Cup soft butter (2 Sticks)

2/3 cup butter flavored shortening or soft coconut oil

1 ½ cups granulated white sugar

1 ½ cups brown sugar

2 eggs

Add and mix in:

2 Tablespoons water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix together and add to above ingredients until just barely blended: (makes tender cookies)

4 ½ cups all-purpose white flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons salt

Add and mix in: 1  12oz  package of your favorite chips – chocolate, mint, cherry, etc.

Note: My favorite is to add 1/3 cup of cocoa (or more depending on your taste) to the flour mixture and mix until cocoa is blended well.  Then add 12 oz. of vanilla flavored chips in place of chocolate chips.

Drop by spoonful to cookie sheet and bake approximately 12 minutes or until cookies just barely start to turn brown on edges. Let them cool for a few minutes and then transfer to cooling rack.  This is a large recipe and makes several dozen depending on the size of cookie that you make. They freeze well so you can have extra cookies on hand when the need arises or to take to someone.
Enjoy!!!
